Doing tent weddings is one of our favourite things as it allows everyone to enjoy the beautiful outdoors while creating an intimate space for our couple and their guests. This is one of our favourite tent weddings that we have done so far and it took place at one of our favourite venues in Vancouver at a boutique wedding venue known as the Stanley Park Pavilion. The oldest standing property at Stanley Park, its building is filled with history while the outdoor grounds provided the perfect space for our couple Sarah and Sean’s Stanley Park Pavilion wedding.
Sarah and Sean wanted their wedding celebration to be full of joy and beauty so their guests can have a fun and memorable time. With that in mind, we wanted to create a wedding where it felt like everyone was whisked away for a romantic and dreamy afternoon away from the city.
For the colour palette, we were inspired by the unique changes in a strawberry hydrangea; various shades of pink, creams and touches of green. From the invitations to the florals, we incorporated all these colours and various textures to create a dreamy ambiance.
It was important for our couple that their guests have a fun time, so various things were included for an entertaining and memorable experience. One of the entertainment was having a magician mingle amongst the guests and do some interactive magic tricks. For those with a sweet tooth, the gelato cart from one of the best gelato shops in the city provided a sweet and delicious reprieve from the warm afternoon sun.
For the reception, we choose to use an airy clear top tent with soft draping and cloud like hanging installation for that whimsical look. We tied it together with soft blush table linens, mauve glassware, and tapered candles for a warm ambience. We also wanted the cake to be a statement piece, so we chose to have a three tired cake that was intricately decorated with sugar flowers, wafer paper and plenty of textures. It was a cake that was so dreamy, romantic, and breathtaking.
Some of our favourite details include the specially designed personalized menus with a velum pull out to tie into the wrapping of the wedding favours. In addition, we loved the live jazz band that really gave the reception the fun yet romantic atmosphere that our couple was looking for. There were also special touches that alluded to both of their heritage; Korean and Chinese, that can be seen in the wedding. The wedding favours of herbarium diffusers were designed and made in Korea and plenty of guests dressed up in beautiful traditional Chinese qipaos.
With a warm sparkler exit to end the reception, the DJ then stepped in to begin their dancing party. This was truly a wedding that was filled with so much laughter and joy. As seen on all the faces of their guests and their stories of this beautiful couple, Sarah and Sean are indeed as their light sign says “better together” and we are so honoured to have planned their wedding celebration.
