This wedding was an intimate mountain top wedding at Villa Eyrie where guests were spoiled. As destination wedding planners in British Columbia, Villa Eyrie was a wonderful venue for our East Coast couple’s destination wedding and this wedding is featured on Green Wedding Shoes.
Couples oftentimes have many hopes and expectations for their wedding day. Perhaps some want to focus more on the decor and attire, while others would like to splurge on the food and entertainment. But sometimes in the midst of all these dreams and fantasies, we get to meet a special couple like Sharon and Tim, whose ultimate goal wasn’t only to celebrate their love, but to spoil their guests.
Sharon and Tim wanted a wedding that wasn’t focused on themselves. But rather on those who have shown immense support in their journey together and taught them the meaning of love throughout the years. Their wedding took place at Villa Eyrie Resort on Victoria Island, in British Columbia where the couple and their guests, all who have flown in, could have a relaxing weekend together.
Taking place in October, inspired by the autumn colours and our groom’s desire to wear a dark green suit, we created a palette that was full of jewel tones that complemented his choice and the surroundings. Throughout the design, from the paper goods to the florals, we wanted to create and design a wedding that blends into the surroundings and gives the feeling of relaxing out in nature.
For the ceremony, we chose to have ground florals to create an intimate feeling while allowing the majestic mountains and waters to shine as the main backdrop.
For the reception, it took place on the terrace with long farmhouse tables. We softened the look with romantic floral centrepieces as well as emerald velvet table runners. Hanging lights added the soft glow for a warm atmosphere.
Some of the most unique parts of this wedding were in the details and personal touches. For the wedding guest book, our couple wanted something more unique so we went with a postcard station.
Complete with a fully functional mailbox, guests were encouraged to leave a message on a postcard for the couple. But the couple weren’t the only ones to receive a message at the wedding. Our couples decided to hand write a personalized card to each of their guests. During the reception setup, we hid all of these handwritten cards under the cushion of each chair. The couple waited til the end of the night to surprise everyone by telling them to lift up their cushion to find the card. The look of surprise on the guests faces, and the tears that followed as everyone read their letters truly epitomize the love our couple had for their family and friends.
This wedding was truly special in so many ways. Being in the medical field, our couple understood that everyone has a busy lifestyle. They wanted to spoil all their guests so that they will not only feel loved, but also refreshed after this weekend. Our couple paid for all the accommodations for their guests to stay on site so that they truly felt like it was a getaway vacation. Our couple also wanted to pay it forward in the form of their wedding favors. Each guest was given a special card where they could write the name of a charity of their choice. Our couple would then make a donation in their name.
The way that our couple chose to cherish their guests truly made this a memorable wedding so filled with love, laughter and happy tears. They are two special people who are not only madly in love with each other, but have hearts brimming with love for those who are so dear to them.
