Two people who began their story like a romance novel with the perfect timing of a girl meeting a boy when she comes home for vacation. Their relationship took them across multiple cities, various time zones, and finally after many years, decided to celebrate their love where it all began in Vancouver Canada. We are so honoured to be a part of their celebration as their wedding planners for their Vancouver Club Wedding.
Xi and Philip’s wedding took place at Vancouver Club where the heritage building carries plenty of history and beautiful old world charm. Bringing out the beauty of this place, our design was inspired by a candle lit romantic night. Using shades of soft blues, purples and greens to design a delicately romantic palette and to create a soft and warm magical haven to celebrate their love and journey.
From getting ready in the morning to dancing the night away with their friends, Xi chose to have a wardrobe with four different outfits to suit all different chapters throughout the day. Starting with a dreamy and flowy getting ready slip and gown, to a beautiful qipao designed by the wedding planner alongside a local bridal designer, her romantically intricate floral wedding gown, and ending off in a classic silk corseted gown, each of the outfits added further beauty to the moment and gave it a special touch.

The tea ceremony was done in the sun filled glass room at Vancouver club and we included plenty of auspicious sayings and traditional elements. A beautiful moment for us during the tea ceremony is the fact that our bride chose to wear a qipao that we designed. It was so beautiful to see our work at one of the weddings that we design.

Throughout this wedding, there were various customized meaningful elements to bring their story to life. For Phil’s love of a fairy tale like reception, we chose to do hanging florals, lush florals and soft candle light. For that European romantic charm and warmth that played an important part in their lives and proposal, we chose to do specially designed floral candelabras.

From the beginning to the end, there are many elements that made this wedding extra special and unique. One of these elements was Xi and Phil’s love of art galleries to the wedding. We created a special ‘art gallery wall’ as a seating chart. Below each painting, instead of the usual description of the painting that you would see at a gallery, was the names of their guests and their table number. We also included postcards with famous art work for guests to leave the newly weds well wishes and advice. In addition, to honour Xi’s late father, a family photo was especially chosen to be included among their photos at the welcome table.
As per their culture and practice, each guest was gifted a special box of sweets at the end of the night. There was also a lavish floral bar where guests can choose and create their very own bouquets to take home.
This was an elegant and timeless wedding, romantic and fairytale like. But it was the genuine warmth and outpouring of love throughout the day that surpassed all the other beauty and made the day so striking and memorable. The happy tears, the shared hugs, the cheering, the dancing, the kissing… each one so real and sincere, it was as if you could touch it with your hands. Years of long distance relationship grew and blossomed to this blissful celebration, and their happily ever after has just begun.

Vancouver Club is one of our favourite weddings in the city as it has such timeless areas for both ceremony and reception and a great team that delivers great service.
