With the trees changing colours and leaves falling down, we created this Vancouver fall wedding inspiration for the cover of Real Wedding’s print magazine. It was an honour creating this whimsical autumn design for the cover of Real Weddings Magazine (Vol.19, Issue 2) and we hope it can be an inspiration for brides.
Fall Wedding Design
We designed this Vancouver Fall wedding inspiration with the concept of a woodland fairytale wedding. Starting with the colour palette, we choose yellow and orange with a touch of grey and blue. Yellow and orange may not be colours commonly used in weddings due to their boldness, but it is a wonderful choice for an autumn wedding. To tone down the overall brightness we used touches of blue and grey throughout the decor.
For the fairytale and woodland theme, we thought that animals would be most fitting to be included in the design. We choose the fox as it is quite a unique animal to be used as part of a wedding. The stationer, Ella Jackson, created a beautiful watercolour suite that tied in beautifully with the rest of the decor. In addition to the fox, we used fruit to add an additional dimension to the design. Pear is a fall fruit and with the beautiful woodsy colour tone found in a Bosc pear, it was the perfect fit.
Fall Wedding Mood and Colours
Overall, we created the mood of being outdoors or a woodland style while maintaining a refined look by using different elements throughout the design. In particular, we choose two different dresses that bring an elevated dreamy style. For the first dress, we went with a grey toned dress to bring more ‘coolness’ to the overall palette. It is also a dress with billowy sleeves that makes it suitable for the cooler weather while making it romantic and whimsy. For the second dress, we choose a gown with intricate beading and a breathtaking train; an elegant and grown up princess dress.
Stepping away from the traditional chairs, we used long wooden benches for the ceremony with a tall overgrown floral ground arrangement for a stunning focal point. Plenty of pampas grass was used for their colour and texture. It’s long feathery edges give the whole floral arrangement a softer touch and the perfect fit with the fall imagery. For the bridal bouquet, we choose a full and natural bouquet so it would look as if the bride was holding a bunch of flowers that she had gathered in the wild.
The tablescape was designed with a natural style and we brought elegance through the details. A natural wood table contrasted by the pops of gold in the cutlery and stemware, soft linens, and earthiness from the ceramic plates. To avoid making it look too formal, we chose to forgo the table linen and went instead for a table runner to soften the ruggedness of the table. A simple runner to keep it natural and ties together the colour palette.
Another focal point of this inspiration is the dessert display. We chose a gold stand amongst all the organic elements to give it that pop of elegance and modern touch. With the beautiful arches in the shelves, we filled the bottom with dramatic florals, reminiscent of having the shelf in the middle of a forest with the flowers and grass growing naturally into it. Tying together the beautiful fox and woodland design from the invitation suite, stunning cookies in the same design was created to complete the dessert display.
Inspiration
