As luxury wedding planners in Vancouver who specialize in planning outdoor weddings, we know Vancouver is not called raincouver for no reason. This wedding took place in the midst of a storm and rainfall warning. With rain pouring down intermittently throughout the day, our couple braved through the weather, even with a sudden downpour in the middle of the ceremony.
Set at the oldest university botanical garden in Canada, this beautiful garden wedding is filled with florals and plenty of modern and dreamy details. Our couple fell in love with this venue for its wide open space and plenty of privacy for their celebration. Using soft creamy tones of peach and pink with pops of blue, we wanted the wedding to be an elegant yet fun celebration.
The overall design was to create something that is a modern take on the classic garden wedding. Plenty of details were also included to not only give it that dreamy and fun celebration ambiance, but also to reflect the things that our couple enjoys.
For the invitation, it was designed with a beautiful floral motif that flowed into the day of stationery. The menu is personalized for each guest with a delicate and elegant vellum overlay. There was also special craft beer on tap from a vintage van and chocolates from our couple’s favourite local chocolatier as wedding favours.
For the ceremony, overgrown floral pillars served as the focal point and complemented the lush greenery in the botanical garden beautifully. We also chose simple white chairs for a more relaxed but classic garden decor style. With a string quartet playing our couple’s favourite songs, it really added to the summer garden wedding celebration ambience.
Continuing with the beautiful floral in the ceremony, the reception was also brimming with fresh flowers and greenery. Starting from the tent entrance, there was plenty of greenery that hung from the top and cascaded down the sides. Further in the tent, the bar area was a focal point with tall florals surrounding the clean white bar. For the head table, we designed a long floral arrangement that gave off the illusion of flowers ‘growing out’ from the table. This gave it a lush and stunning effect and really brings the modern romantic touch. A breathtaking cake sitting atop an elegant floral arrangement glass pillar was the perfect touch to tie everything together.
From the lush florals for the ceremony, the overgrown floral arrangements within the reception tent, to the floral details throughout, each part was used to bring to life a modern romantic garden wedding.
It may have been a stormy and rainy day, but after waiting so long to be married due to covid, everything was focused on the celebration of their love and happiness. As we witnessed in the morning hours, there was a rainbow after the rain.
