Beautiful British Columbia…that is the phrase written on the licence plates and a popular way to describe our West Coast province. There are so many stunning scenic places but one of our favourites is the Sea to Sky area. When the grand mountains are graced with the glassy blue waters at its feet, it’s hard not to be in awe of just how beautiful nature is. And this beautiful scene is exactly what our couple, J&A, wanted to share with their closest family and friends at their Sea to Sky Gondola Wedding.
Their love story began at school but soon life happened and then began their prolonged long distance relationship. But distance didn’t dampen their love, and through all the various cities and time zones, they were finally able to reunite and begin their new chapter together in Vancouver, Canada.
As their families and friends are not from Vancouver, they wanted them to enjoy the best of what the West Coast has to offer and share with them their new city. With all the guests flying in for this special celebration, taking them 885m above sea level seemed like a wonderful way to do just that.
The overall design for this wedding was to create an intimate and relaxing ambiance for the couple and their guests. We focused on plenty of greenery with touches of mauve and cream tones to complement the lush natural surroundings and play into the woodland style. The ceremony took place on the Spirit Trail view platform where a 100m suspension bridge served as the ultimate aisle for our bride.
The impressive scenery provided the perfect backdrop and we wanted to complement it with ground florals as the focal point. We chose benches for an intimate feeling and to suit the natural surroundings. Small aisle markers along with blankets for the guest to keep warm from the mountain air completed the look.
With plenty of natural light from the windows and a high lofty ceiling, we wanted to create an intimate and relaxed atmosphere by bringing nature indoors. Above the long tables, we created rows of hanging greenery to fill out the high ceiling space for a relaxing and natural touch. On the table, a moss runner with floral arrangements throughout complemented the hanging installation and gave a unique and beautiful look. A simple and classic wedding cake with fresh florals and greenery tied everything together for this intimate wedding.
There are also personalised touches throughout the wedding that our bride wanted to incorporate. As all their guests have flown in for their wedding, they included a fun touch by having a ‘baggage claim’ area for their wedding favours. From the little wooden tree stumps to the menu designed by her sister, it made their wedding more special and unique.
It was a beautiful day for their wedding at the summit, even if there was a brief moment where a thunderstorm threatened to rain on their ceremony. But like all the odds that our couple had beat to be together, everything turned out wonderful and not a single raindrop fell from the skies that day.
Our couple wanted to give the best introduction to the West Coast to their guests, and they were indeed mesmerised at the beauty that surrounded them. But even more than that, we believe their guests were more amazed and touched by the beauty of their love for each other.
