If you have followed us for some time, you will be well acquainted with the fact that we love old world architecture and we are always on the lookout for venues in Vancouver with those designs. There aren’t too many of these venues in Vancouver, but there is a castle on Vancouver Island that is full of history and old world charm. You can imagine how excited we were to be designing a wedding at this location for a beautiful couple. This wedding is published on Rocky Mountain Bride.
This breathtakingly romantic wedding with the couple’s closest family and friends took place at the grand Hatley Castle, tucked away on Vancouver Island.
It was an intimate and beautiful celebration with their guests travelling from all over the world to attend their wedding. From the first time we met with E&R, we knew that they wanted their wedding to not only be beautiful, but also give their guests a wonderful experience.
Our bride wanted a wedding that would transport their guests to a party at the Bridgertons. So we created the design to be an understated elegant British garden party that celebrates their love for each other and their close family and friends. Beginning with the invitation suite, we went with an intricate design with shades of blues, golds, and delicate floral motif. A monogram of their initials added to the elegance and gave it a classic touch. We carried these colours into the rest of the wedding design, while including other pastel colours to give it a romantic palette.
For the ceremony, we wanted to play into the historical and stunning beauty of the Castle, and went with a semi arch with lush greenery and pops or florals. We also used simple ground floral arrangements to mark the entrance of the aisle for a minimal and classic look.
For the reception, we continued the lush greenery design with a breathtaking seating chart on linen and an overgrown arrangement on the fireplace. The drawing room of the castle was beautiful with its ornate small chandeliers hanging throughout so we kept the rest of the design simple. Soft blue glass goblets and napkins along with the floral centrepieces tied everything together.
Along with the stunning castle and design, our couple’s attire was fit for a dreamy fairytale. Our bride wore an intricately beaded wedding dress paired with a soft and airy veil and glamorous old Hollywood waves in her hair. The groom complemented her classic look with a satiny black velvet suit and white tie. With the soft summer sunlight, their most heartfelt vows, and exuberant live music for their dancing to end the night, this was truly a wedding full of movie-like moments and romances.
