As event planners and designers, whenever we are designing an event or party, we want to bring a special touch to what our client is envisioning. For this birthday celebration, our client wanted to create a surprise party for her fiance’s 30th birthday and she told us that he is a fan of Formula 1. After planning and designing, we created a F1 experience in Canada and here are the details of this elevated F1 Birthday Party in Vancouver.
Paddock Club Birthday Lounge
As we began to design this party, we wanted this to be classy and elegant, something suitable for a 30th birthday party. Oftentimes with themes like cars or even Formula 1, many people will associate it with a child’s birthday party and that is something we wanted to be mindful of.
With the classy and elegant concept in mind, we decided to design the party to be like a paddock’s club. Paddock’s club is a special part of F1 where it hosts VIP’s in a luxury lounge setting with gourmet dining, exclusive experiences and views. We thought this would be the perfect celebration style for our client and their friends.
F1 Design Details
It wasn’t possible to have all their friends racing on an actual track with sports cars, so we decided to do a race kart so everyone could participate while keeping it in the F1 theme. We focused on using black, white, and the signature F1 red as our colour palette for a masculine yet elevated style. Creating a luxurious lounge like room, we chose to drape the room in plush black velvet with soft lighting on the table. In the middle of the room, we arranged the round tables, covered in silky red satin tablecloths, in a serpentine shape with modern tableware and glasses. We also chose modern and unique small floral arrangements for a touch of freshness and textures.
As the focal point of the room, we wanted something that was personalised and unique. We designed a backdrop with an illuminated curve to reflect the winding roads and bends in the F1 race tracks. We also had a custom made pitboard, similar to the ones that F1 drivers usually use on the track.
We purposely chose numbers to indicate the special occasion; For example, Lap 30 for his 30th birthday. We also hung some special photo artwork on the side of the room like a gallery. This included photos from F1 races but also some custom made ones with their dog as a special and humorous touch.
Some of the details in the design included the invitations, menu, and party favours. Invitations were designed in a modern and minimal design with rounded edges and lines to resemble a race track. There was also an additional piece made to to be like the actual F1 paddock club ticket that was included in the suite. Party favours were stone like coasters each with a special F1 racetrack design and information. There was also a customized cake in minimal design and special speedometer indicating his 30th birthday.
Bringing F1 to Vancouver
This surprise private birthday party in Vancouver was a wonderful success as our client was absolutely delighted to see the design and all their guests were also amazed at the transformation of the race kart room for this birthday celebration. After the racing, there was also a burger bar for guests to enjoy with freshly grilled patties. Our client also requested some of her fiance’s favorite childhood snacks where guests could enjoy as well.
