How to plan your wedding during Covid

2020 has come and gone and now in 2021, couples are still planning their wedding during these times of Covid. Despite a long year of fighting the pandemic that has seemingly taken over the world, it still isn’t quite over yet.

Many of our couples have postponed their wedding from last year to this year, but it seems like there will most likely be restrictions for weddings this year as well. Depending on the kind of wedding you are dreaming of, it might be easier to postpone your wedding for yet another year, or perhaps it will be better to just have a small wedding first and then a bigger celebration later when everyone can gather freely.

For our couples that are moving forward with their wedding this year, there are various things that we are doing to help ensure that they not only have the wedding they want, but also to keep them and their guests safe. We would like to share with you 3 tips on how to plan a safe wedding.

3 Tips for a safe wedding

1. Check and Double Check⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

With the numbers rising again in many cities, the government can often change their restrictions very quickly; sometimes even overnight.  Also each city and district is different, so remember to check the restrictions not only where you are living, but also for where the wedding will take place. For example, are masks currently required at gatherings or in specific places? The situation changes often and keeping up to date with what is allowed is important.⠀

2. The bigger the space, the better

If it’s possible, having your wedding outdoors will be a better choice than having an indoor wedding. Not only will guests feel safer as there is more room to social distance, being in the outdoors will also allow for better ventilation.

3. Care Package for guests

Keeping your guests safe is a top priority when planning a safe wedding. There are measures that venues are taking to ensure there is ample space between guests during the ceremony and reception.

Taking it a step further, we think it is nice to include a care package (like the one we designed and created seen here) for your guest to not only show your appreciation for their attendance, but also as a way to show your care for their well being.

Some of the items we suggest including in the personalized care packages are disposable face masks, hand sanitizer, and hand cream. Of course, you can also include other fun things like paper soap and disinfectant spray as well.  Right now there are plenty of mask options available and you might even want to personalize the masks so it adds a creative element to your wedding!

Be kind, be calm and be safe⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Planning a wedding during a covid is stressful and the chances of things changing at the last minute is quite high. If you feel you need more help, it is best to work with a wedding planner because they are up to date with what is allowed and will have good contingency plans from their experience. Also, when things are unexpected, planners can also use their connections with vendors to ensure that the wedding will continue on with minimal problems.

2020 has been a long hard year for many, but we are hopeful that the end to all this is near. As we wait for the time we can all celebrate together freely again, let’s continue to “be kind, be calm, and be safe” (Dr.Bonnie Henry).
